Michael Collis

I was born in Bath -England- but when I was only six months old my parents moved back to my dad's hometown, Málaga -Spain-.
I Graduated in Acting from drama school in 1993 at the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Málaga. That same year I moved to London to study Lighting Design at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where, four terms later, I got my Diploma, having completed my course.
After several lighting designs in London I returned to Spain, in 1997, and settled in Madrid. This is where I've spent over 20 years doing my lighting designs whilst working at the Teatro Real opera house.
I directed my first play in 2012, “Pendientes de Saldo”.
At the opera house I met my good friend Alejandro Pannocchia, an experienced camera operator and editor, who is also a keen film buff. This is how, after years of great bonding, that the idea of “By the Face Films” came to be, a long-term project to fulfill our mutual passion for film-making.
